The Beat Goes On is a 4-player minigame that appears in Mario Party 3 and Mario Party: The Top 100.

Introduction[]

The minigame takes place in a lake in a jungle at night. A tribe of Shy Guys are on a platform in the middle, and the players are situated on four giant lily pads surrounding the platform.

Gameplay[]

As the minigame begins, the Spear Guy plays four beats on his three drums (two in Mario Party: The Top 100). The players then have to remember and copy the beats the Spear Guy made, as well as add an additional beat of their own at the end, thus making the number of beats increase for each player afterwards.

If a player plays an incorrect drum or fails to beat a drum in time, they are automatically eliminated by the yellow Spear Guys, who throw torches at the player. The last player standing wins. In Mario Party 3, the game ends in a draw if 16 drum beats are played and there are two players remaining.
